She Pledges Allegiance

Katie has been asking if she could join me in walking William to school recently. Since she was such a good girl this morning… stayed in her own bed all night (that’s another story), no peepee accidents & generally sweet all morning, I said yes.

On our way out of the school, the bell rang & announcements started. Everyone was instructed to stand & the Pledge of Allegiance began. We were at the front of the school by this point & the Assistant Principal was there with hand over heart. I placed her hand over her heart, pointed out the flag to her & this was the sweetness I witnessed. :-)

William’s First Love Note

Tuesday night I was putting William to bed when he mentioned to me that a little girl, Maddy, at school loved him.  I said, “Oh really?”  He said, “yes.  She took her love from Jordan and gave it to me.”  Jordan is another little girl in his class.  I asked him what he said back to Maddy.  He explained that he loved her too.  I was interested in figuring out the story behind this, so I continued my quizzing.  “What do you love about Maddy?”  His response was, “well Mommy.  I just… anyone who loves me, I love them back.”  At this point I was very pleased with my sweet son.  I know I’ll have to look out in the future, but I was quite happy with his response.

The next morning Chris took the kids to school.  It was a little chilly out, so they had to wear their jackets.  As William was going into the school he took something out of his pocket and told Daddy that he had forgotten to give it to him the night before.  Chris came home and told me William had received something at school that was a first and I would want to save it for his scrapbook.  I could not believe it when I saw it.  It’s an actual love note.  A nice little circle cutout… on one side there is a wonderful drawing of a prince and princess.  I just love the polka-dotted top hat the prince is wearing.  On the back there are 2 stick figures.  Both are holding heart balloons.  There is an “M” with an arrow pointing to one and a “W” with an arrow pointing to the other.  At the top is the kicker.  “I (heart) You”.

I cannot believe it.  He’ll be 5 in 2 weeks and has received his first love note.  On a positive note, Maddy is a very sweet little girl.  She has a little sister just like William does.  I have attached the pictures below.
